As a faculty at the University of Minnesota, I am determined to foster diversity and inclusion. As a female physician-scientist, I passionately support women in STEM. Over the years, I have mentored many female pre-doctoral and postdoctoral trainees. In 2019, I worked with three talented female trainees to write an article titled "Women in Neuroscience: Where Are We in 2019?" published in the Journal of Neuroscience Research, discussing the challenges and biases female trainees and scientists have to face and how to address the critical issues.

I recently collaborated with Dr. Clara Li at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai to perform annual follow-ups in a cohort of elderly Chinese Americans seen in the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center for evaluation-performing neurological assessments and providing clinical recommendations for this under-represented elderly population. We received an NIH grant to develop research infrastructure and evaluation tools for studying Alzheimer's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) in older Asian Americans, a historically underrepresented minority population, in current clinical and research initiatives. Our work and studies aim to understand better mechanisms and pathways affecting AD/ADRD outcomes within the older Asian American population and, more importantly, to address health disparities in research and clinical care.
